Description

Clearwater Charter Fishing Experience
The type of tackle used on all of our Clearwater Charter Fishing trips is termed “light tackle” and provides lots of excitement and fun. Both beginners and seasoned fishermen will enjoy this type of charter fishing.
Our Clearwater Beach Fishing Charters include bottom fishing for Red Grouper most of the year and from July to December, we catch the Gag Grouper. Red Snapper are caught from June to mid July, Gray Snapper or “grunts” are caught year round and are one of the best eating fish we have. Several other species of fish such as Hogfish, Sea Bass and Flounder are caught bottom fishing and it not uncommon to catch 10- 15 different types of fish in the same day.

When we are bottom fishing, we do what is called Trolling. When trolling, the boat never stops moving as we drag both artificial and live bait in an effort to catch Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Tuna and occasionally a Sailfish. There is always lots of action and all these fish are great eating.

Near the beach, we fish for Tarpon or the ” Silver King”. This fish is highly prized by many fishermen and the Clearwater Beach waters are a prime Tarpon area from May to November along the beaches. The Clearwater Beach area is not as well known as other areas on the West Coast of Florida but many of us feel it is the best area with lots of fish and few anglers. There is nothing more exciting than watching a Tarpon jump out of the water when hooked, sometimes several jumps, and then the scream of the drag on the reel as these fish peel off hundreds of yards of line. An excitement you will never forget, a heart rate you may have never experienced and a memory your friends won’t understand is waiting here in Clearwater and surrounding areas. Capt. Steve is tops when it comes to finding Tarpon and if he is booked, has a few other Captains that he highly recommends that will certainly produce for you.

\r\nWe were on the Captain Steve's boat Nov 4th. We had a fantastic time. Along with many nice sized spanish mackerel, we hit the jack pot, my 12 yr old caught his first 11 lb king fish and between my son and husband, they caught a beautiful 7ft 80lb sail fish. This is a day we will never forget..thanks Captain Steve. I also want to say thanks to Susan for nacigating the boat perfectly...you guys are a great team.

Some friends and I had gone fishing with Captain Steve near the end of 2014 and it was a great experience. We went back for the end of 2015 and it was another excellent experience. Not a fluke, this outfit knows what's up. I highly recommend Captain Steve and Scales N Tails. The boat is plenty comfortable for you and five of your friends and your cooler full of beers. Never been fishing but want to try? Captain Steve is an excellent teacher. Very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere on his boat. Its a great way to catch up with good friends, and you're sure to have plenty of fish. Captain Steve's knowledge of the marine ecology is impressive, and he knows how to use it to put you on fish. Looking forward to fishing with Scales N Tails again in May.

Captain steve and susan were great. The weather was nice and the water was beautiful. Along with fishing and catching various fish, we saw a huge sea turtle and a rare glimpse of 2 triple tail fish 16 miles off shore. We had a great time and would recommend to others.
