Enjoy 62 Coffees & Other Handcrafted Beverages At The Coffee Mill

A good cup of coffee is a staple of most people’s days. It is a great start to the day, and a great coffee shop is the perfect place to meet for business or pleasure. Since 2018, The Coffee Mill has been providing people with the best coffee in Largo.

Still using the original roaster fom ‘83, when there was originally a gift shop on the site, it is 1 of only 5 fluid bed roasters in the whole US. They have 62 different different coffees, and they partner with Jupiter Donuts, which is the perfect partnership.

Hannah and her mother, part of a winning team, tells how they are always improving, and studying the process of roasting, so that they can continue to improve.

Hannah fell in love with the shop when she worked for the previous owner, and that joke that she would always own the shop, was provided with a wonderful punchline, when that dream came true.

They are carrying a torch that the previous owner, Tracy picked up from the owner of Joffrey’s coffee, of continual improvement.

They donate to Anona Elementary, and the church they go to, and they are very active in the local community. They are members of the Pinellas Chamber, and are looking to expand into new locations, and bringing the gift of coffee to everyone with the wonderful idea of a coffee box, to make those 62 coffees available to everyone.

Local Life Featured Article With Tucker Of Gulfport Dive Center
Tucker Waud has been diving since 1999 - he comes from a family of divers, and was certified at the age of 12. Originally  from Chicago, he first went diving on family vacation and fell in love with it. He has dived in Lake Superior; St Louis, where there's an abandoned lead mine; and numerous other places. It is very real to him what divers want from their dives, and what they need.

Tucker managed the shop for 2 years before purchasing it last year, with a real vision of where he wants to take it. The Dive Center has been a great resource for local divers since 2012 when the previous owners opened it, and Tucker is looking build on that, and make it even more valuable to the diving community. They provide diving services, rental equipment, retail equipment, training, equipment service, and dive trips.

b2ap3_thumbnail_23CD2D1688714EF79CDE0458B436F2E9.jpgTheir success is rooted in having friendly staff, being customer oriented, and providing their divers with what they need and want. Tucker cares about the experience his customers are having, and he knows that providing them with the right knowledge is key. As divers his customers need the right skills to be calm comfortable divers. He listens to what they are asking for, and then he provides the trips and the specialty classes, and whatever else is required.

They send multiple representatives on each dive trip (they have 9 dive professionals), and they have their own dive boat (picture to the left), so they can give divers-in-training a real salt-water experience. For this, they go to some really beautiful spots such as Lake Denton, Rainbow River, and Devil's Den in Ocala. This exists alongside their 3 staff dive centre where they do a lot of their training.

Their staff are all active dive professionals, and they have to be active in teaching and guiding as part of their certification. Each of the dive professionals is accredited with Scuba Schools International (SSI), and they have safety training, CPR, First Aid Training, and Defibrilator training. They are an SSI Diamond Training Centre, meaning that every year they are getting 200 people qualified with their Open Water Certificates, and 50 or 60 people through their continuing education.

Tucker has also volunteered with Scubanauts, a non-profit that teaches teenagers to be scientific divers. He is very much oriented around helping more people in the future. He plans to double in size with a new building for the dive centre and wants to get 5 or 6 more dive professionals on board.

They are very eco-friendly, provide ecology courses, and offer products that are non-hazardous to coral. Tucker brings his love of diving to his work, and he instils that same love in the people that he trains. With the number of people passing through the training every year that makes for a lot of well-trained divers passionate about diving. It's a great thing.

Local Life Featured Article With Enrique Behrens Of Pinellas Power Sports
Enrique Behrens and the staff who work at Pinellas Power Sports love motorbikes, and they love helping people who love bikes to get their dream machine. You can tell when you speak to people at the company that they love what they are doing, and if you like bikes this seems like it would have to be the perfect place to work.

Enrique has always worked hard, and you get the feeling that he has always found enjoyment in his work. Enrique used to run a home inspection company but had a lot of friends into bike life, so when he ended his previous company it made sense to take over a company that sold bikes. He has now been in the  business five years and he believes that customer service is paramount.

When asked what the secret to his success has been, Enrique answered very pragmatically: "Going to work." It seems such a simple thing, but you can tell that it really is the thing that has helped Enrique to win in life and business.

This is his third successful business since leaving business school in university, and he really likes being a business owner.

b2ap3_thumbnail_21604.pngEnrique loves to help people, and was involved in raising money for a local kid called Blake, who has a life-threatening condition and is in a wheelchair. A lot of bikers came together, cooked food, raised money, and had a great time helping with this great cause.

Enrique's philosophy is 'How hard you work is how good you are doing".

You can tell they pull our all the stops to help their clients, and they have some great reviews that attest to this.

Local Life Spotlight Article With Chris' Carpet Service And Water Damage, And Mold Restoration b2ap3_thumbnail_tile--grout-cleaning-1.jpgChris and Barbara have owned Chris's Carpet Services for 41 years. They started out as a carpet installer, working with carpet upholstery, and also grout cleaning. 20 years ago they decided to add another

string to their bow and they began dealing with water damage. Always looking for new ways in which they can help people, 5 years ago they got their state license in mold remediation.

Barbara attributes their success to the personal touch that they bring to every job. With water damage and mold problems, it can be a very stressful time for the clients, and Chris' Carpet Service & Water Restoration handhold them through the whole process, so that when they come out the other end they are completely happy. The clients appreciate this degree of care in trying times. One great example of going the extra mile is when a technician, while working to repair the damage in a client's home, helped put groceries away so they didn't spoil, because the owner was out of the house.

Chris, like many people who become experts in their field, apprenticed as a carpet installer and picked it up so well that he branched out on his own. Chris became a master and is able to work on Axminster carpets, which requires a degree of expertise that is not common in the field. He would hand sew these high end carpets that have to be handled very carefully, working all night to repair them. This specialist knowledge has, over the years, saved their clients thousands in insurance costs - where most people would not know what to do.

All of the team at Chris' Carpet Services all go to IICRC, the Institute Of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification forb2ap3_thumbnail_mold-pic-collage.jpg their ongoing education. Chris is a Master Cleaner trained in handling water damage, carpet cleaning, and mold remediation.

To help the community, the company will help lder people and those who are in need. Chris' Carpet Services are part of the Central Pinellas Chamber Of Commerce, BNI Nexus, and they have BBB A+ rating, and 5 stars on Yelp.

Chris and Barbara both originally come from New York State and moved to Florida on the same day, and met a year later.

They both love the business, especially the interaction with the customers, and making people happy. Recently they worked on 2 back to back mold jobs, which took 3 weeks for each job, and the two clients, who were friends with each other, were both very happy with the work that was done. Some jobs are harder than others, and Chris' Carpet Services recently had to deal with one of the worst sewage blocks they had ever seen in a home - Barbara described the damage as disastrous: the lady had no insurance and they had to tear out walls, but they handled the issue and were very proud of the work, and the customer was incredibly happy.

Chris' Carpet Services & Water Restoration are a Family Owned, Full Service Company, who prize customer service and quality of service very highly - something their customers would readily confirm.

If you call and mention this article you can get $100 off your deductible for water damage.

It's Time For The Pinellas Realtor Organization (PRO) To Rank Independent Realtors Separately

b2ap3_thumbnail_Ray-Cassano-headshot.pngRay Cassano Is The #1 Realtor In Pinellas County

Imagine that you play a sport that can be played in a team or solo, and that your solo efforts were set against those of a team - hardly fair, right? The same would be true if you were to match a single person's sales to that of a collective - it makes sense that multiple people are going to be able to do more and generate more money, if they are working effectively, than a single individual. Look at the individual production of each member of that team and match their statistics against those of a stellar solo player, and you would be looking at a totally different picture. Should team production and individual production be ranked in the same way? Is it not confusing to rank independents and teams together?

If you look at the success of Ray Cassano, he ranks in the top fifty, when matched against those teams who work in real estate - so he is holding his own. If you judge him person to person against individual agents he is head and shoulders above everyone. As a person looking to get the perfect piece of real estate, wouldn't you want the stellar solo player in your court rather than the person whose statistics may be muddied by being mixed in with the work of their team mates?

If you work with Ray, you know you are getting a real estate professional with 44 years of experience who has a passion and a drive to deliver that dream home to you, or to make sure your business is able to inhabit that perfect spot you picked out. If you get someone whose statistics are commingled by the influence of those they work with and their performance, maybe all you can say about them is that they are a great team player (not a bad thing, but not the same as a star solo player by any means!). Buying a home is an important decision, and finding a place to set up your business can be vital to its success - so being able to clearly see someone's statistics in doing that is a great indication that you can place your trust in them to do the same for you.

In any field there are those who excel - those who consistently demonstrate their brilliance in the field in which they operate. In real estate, in the Clearwater area, one realtor does that: Ray Cassano. Ray is an award winning realtor who has been number one in his field for a long time, and his business continues growing from strength to strength.

Ray is well known in the Clearwater community, and his business, Station Square Realty, is a landmark. It was founded in 2004 and has helped many people to find the perfect piece of real estate for them. He is the prime realtor in downtown, and is a Realtor Emeritus, a status awarded because of the amount of time he has been in real estate, and the quality of service. He has been selling real estate for over 44 years, and he and his colleagues at Station Square Realty are GRI qualified (Graduates of Real Estate Institute), an honor given only to the top real estate agents in the country.

Ray has expressed before his desire to boom Clearwater and make it into one of the finest cities on Earth, and he has contributed to that in a lot of ways. Clearwater is a great place to live, and Station Square Realty's passion for helping people find the exact right property for them has been.

Ray sums it up on his website: "I love helping people get one of their biggest dreams, which is their own house or business!!"

Wabamm Local Life: Karl Nurse Of Baytech Labels

Baytech Are A Company Built On Innovative Solutions

Baytech Label has been in business since October 1986, operating, as Karl Nurse, The President of the company, describes it, as an innovator that is not first and not last as far as the ever-changing field of technology is concerned; not necessarily on the bleeding edge, but able to come up with innovative solutions.

Karl is a problem solver who loves working out the puzzles that will move Baytech forward into the future.  Baytech, following his lead, are able to be a little bit more nimble than their competitors and are able to work in a wide range of materials and do a variety of different kinds of work.

Karl majored in Political Science but says by the time he left college he had taken enough business classes to arrive at the perfect blend of arrogance and ignorance that allowed him to launch his own business.

Baytech Labels has won, and regularly wins, a number of awards for the quality of their work, both from the Print Association Of Florida, and The Flexographic Technical Association. This allows them to continue expanding, which Karl is very enthusiastic about - his viewpoint is that they are never at capacity, and can always add more customers and help more people. Their work gets them great reviews and they have been able to remain as a  Guild in the ever-changing market of printing for over 30 years. They also have a Green Printer Association Certification, a prestigious distinction which only 2% of printers have.

Outside of the printing industry, Karl has been busy as well. He has been a Council Member of St Petersburg City Council for 10 years, and he has been an active volunteer in the local community for about 40 years. He also has a passion for helping people with affordable housing, and has done a lot of work with Habitat to improve the lives of those in the area. In conjunction with Habitat he also works with Sustainable Communities in an effort to show government that it is more cost effective to build houses with renewable energies like solar from the start to help support lower income households.

Whatever he is doing you get the sense that Karl can use the problem solving skills he has developed adeptly, to navigate the evolving worlds of print, being a Councillor, and his other areas of interest. Over 30 years of high quality printing and innovation, and a future that promises more of the same, means that Baytech Label will remain a company to watch, and Karl will be leading them forward.

Wabamm Local Life: The New You Dental And Aesthetics

Experience New You Dental's Wonderful Relaxing Atmosphere

There are millions of people who come in search of the American Dream, and of those, some recognize that the key to achieving it is hard work. With $1 in her pocket, and a dream, 19 year old Ewa Zabatani traveled from Poland to America.

A dream can carry you across oceans, and it can serve as a compass to guide you through your life, to the place you want to be, and Ewa had that. She had a dream to create a family and a business. She says: ”I always wanted to work and find my own way.” And she did.

In a real demonstration of spirit, with no English, she set her sights on working in a really nice restaurant and jazz club in New York, and with fierce determination she made it happen. It was a cool place frequented by such luminaries as Bruce Willis and Madonna, she learned English with the occasional help of her manager.

She worked nights and miraculously managed to also have a career of a few years modeling with a top modelling agency which was accompanied by some great things, such as being in some music videos by top musicians, in magazines and TV commercials, and getting some small parts in movies.

In 2000, Ewa’s American Dream led her to Clearwater, where after a period working in the restaurant industry she became a dental assistant, and got herself a 2 year diploma as a dental technician. Always working hard to attain that dream - there was a period she was designing and selling flowers, waitressing, working in dentistry, and taking care of her children.

Contact New You Dental Today To Set Up An Appointment 727-286-7627

While gaining more and more experience in the business of dentistry she bought and sold a restaurant, and as a result, in 2017 was able to open her next business, The New You Dental and Aesthetics ( one of the first dental spas - a new and innovative concept developed by Ewa herself). She did this with her two partners, Dr Barna and Mr Kerns, who believed in her vision, and fully supported the realization of the dream.

b2ap3_thumbnail_svc3-in-house-dental-discount-r1.jpgAlong the way Ewa did the full training line up at the world’s largest and leading dental management company, and has built her business into a flourishing practice that takes care of 300+ patients in and around Safety Harbor. Ewa loves to help people, and her dream for the long term, is to provide high quality affordable healthcare to everyone in a relaxing environment. “I want each of my patients to be treated like a person and not a number.”

As Ewa has built up her practice, she has also assembled around her a great team. She says: “I believe to have true success you have to have a great team & teamwork.” She believes that “Patients can be happy if the team is good,” and it is evident in the growth of her practice that she has both a great team, and happy patients. Her hard work and these other ingredients are creating the success and making that American Dream a reality.

Dr Carina Catipovic, the general dentist at The New You, originally from Buffalo, New York, brings a lot to the team. She is a talented and detail oriented dentist, who is very professional, delivers high quality treatment, and embodies all the values of The New You Dental.

Wabamm Spotlight Article On Mold Zero

mold zeroDo You Have Mold In Your Building? It Needs To Be Handled

Do you live in Clearwater or the Tampa Bay Area? Have you ever had a problem with mold? Then Mold Zero is the company you have been looking for.

All of our clients that we work with have one thing in common - they are providing a service or a product that is designed to help people, and Mold Zero are no exception. Using a patented dry fog technology they attack and eradicate mold spores wherever they have settled in in your living or work space, and once that has been removed they perform a second process that out a microbiological barrier in place that prevents any further mold growth in that area. They are based in Clearwater but service the whole Tampa Bay area, and sometimes even further afield. Before the development of technologies like the one in use by Mold Zero home and business owners would have to resort to demolition mold removal, and this can be a lot more invasive and expensive, and can, in some cases not prove as effective as its practitioners would have you believe, because it can miss areas that the dry fog would penetrate and handle.

If You Need Mold Treated, Contact Mold Zero

In Florida we have very high humidity as it is, so having faulty AC is enough to provide an opening for mold to settle in and start growing. Add in flooding and you increase the likelihood even further. Structural changes brought about by renovation, or even with newer construction the changes in building regulations, can be enough to affect the humidity levels inside a building and give mold the perfect climate in which to grow. Your structure is not the only thing under threat when you have mold. Depending on your sensitivity you can fall prey to the allergies mold causes, suffering because of various mycotoxins and bacteria associated with the mold's growth. Asthma, fibromyalgia, brain fog, rashes, neurological problems - the list goes on. Removing the mold isn't easy, and the EPA has a lot of warnings about what to do and not do, and what equipment you should use. In most cases, except for very minimal amounts of mold, you are going to be better sending for a professional like Mold Zero. Please click here check them out.
The Clearwater Art Walk Was A Fun Experience For All b2ap3_thumbnail_artwalk1.jpg

Clearwater Artwalk Really Showed The Local Talent We Have

Last Friday at 6-9 Buzzazz transformed into an art gallery. We have a pretty aesthetic looking office as is, with art themed around the western frontier on one wall, and showbiz and sport on the other.  But Friday was something else.

In collaboration with Seahorse Gallery, we had original work by world renowned artists Jim Warren and Dick Zimmerman which represents a real masterclass in the medium. From Jim we had some of his instantly recognizable pieces, like Cheeseburger In Paradise and Goddess Of Fire And Ice. Dick Zimmerman was represented by Keith Richards and Al Pacino, among others.

We had beautiful work by Kim Braun and CapeBuffalo Furniture, and some amazing sculptures by Adi Ben Dov. The energy in all these pieces leapt out at you, and were very popular with people who visited us.

There Really Is A Love Of Art And These Kinds Of Events

We had some fantastic local artists who were also displaying some great art. Taylor Mack had some vibrant and intensely dream-like paintings. Natasha Grimsley's work gave us ink and watercolor fantasy. Jame's Makan provided us with some very popular sketches of beautiful women.b2ap3_thumbnail_artwalk-2.jpg

We had live music from Milton James, who gave us blues and soul. Judy Bachar sang for us, and treated Cleveland Street to some beautiful opera.

As if this wasn't enough, we had great refreshments and great conversation, and an all round amazing evening.

If you missed this one, the good news is that it is happening again on August 31st. So, you have to come along!

An Echelman Sculpture In St Petersburg

World Renowned Artist's Sculpture For St Pete

If you like art, and you like sculpture, and you live in St Petersburg, there is some good news for you - a sculpture by Janet Echelman is coming your way.

Mayor Kriseman has secured private donations of approximately $1.5 million to  make the sculpture happen.

Echelman is a world renowned sculptor who "reshapes urban airscapes" with her vast and dynamic aerial sculptures. She has given a Ted Talk and other lectures, has been featured in magazines from Time to Wired, and has created some beautiful and iconic works that you would surely recognize even if you don't recall the name.

It will be a signature piece for the Pier District, which is currently under construction.

Tampa Born Artist Creates Beautiful Aerial Sculptures

Janet Echelman was born in Tampa, and Kriseman presented her with the key to the city in 2016.

Three prominent backers of the project have been Premier Eye Care CEO Lorna Taylor, former Florida House Speaker Peter Wallace and his wife, St. Petersburg Poet Laureate Helen Pruitt Wallace.

Art is very important to the cultural life of St Petersburg - it has a thriving art district and a very active spoken word scene, and great music, among many other great reasons to love the city.

The lifespan of the sculpture is projected to be 25 to 30 years, and it would possibly be located at Spa Beach, though this may change if the opposition from the Waterfront Parks Foundation is successful. Wherever it finds its eventual home it will definitely be something worth seeing.

Clearwater Downtown Development Revitalised

An Old Development Poised To Become Vital Resource

If you have lived in Clearwater for any length of time you will have seen the unfinished development opposite the Nolen on Cleveland Street. It's been there a while, and you may have given pause to wonder whether or not it was ever going to achieve completion as a project. Well, now, it seems, they are closing on that finish line, and a landmark is going to be transformed into something vital that really adds to the town.

There seems to be a lot happening locally, and the fact that the new owners took on a challenge to complete the project in 30 months, to avoid the penalties accrued previously, makes it an exciting race against time.

GSP Development's plan will give us a restaurant with a coffee shop - always a welcome addition, parking, a dog wash and bike storage on the ground floor. Residents are also going to have the benefit of a fitness center, a golf simulator, and a party room and pool deck.

Clearwater Is In An Exciting Phase Of Growth

The technology industry is well represented in the town, and the downtown waterfront is going to be undergoing its own revitalization. It is an exciting time for the city.

There is a lot of push in the area to have more social activities, and there are more and more community based initiatives springing up, supported by local philanthropists, volunteers, churches, and businessmen. To see the way that community leaders worked to help people after the hurricane was inspirational, and that same flow of help is present in other areas of city life. Any expansion is an indicator that things are going right in the town, and is also a great demonstration that people are seeing and creating more and more opportunities.

Help For Grassroots Non-Profits

Volunteers Do A Lot To Improve People's Quality Of Life

There are a lot of people out there who give their time to help people, and are looking to change the quality of life for everyone from the ground up. There are always tools that one can get that help to better achieve their goals, and there are some very successful actions that some non-profits have employed, but which other groups may not be aware of.

Karena Morrison, of the Clearwater Community Volunteer Center, helps a lot of people already with her own group, but is looking to share her experience and knowledge with others to help them help more people. Karen will deliver a second set of seminars on Monday June 25th that are designed to give grass-roots organizations the tools which will help them grow and help more families. Over 15 years Karen has been providing help to people and improving their lives.

Go And Get Some Great Tools!

Who couldn't do with some help to Maximise Their Message? And just think of the number of people who are going benefit from a more enlightened and better equipped community of volunteers - the exponential effect is amazing, and should definitely be supported.

The event can be signed up for via the Benevolution Facebook Page, so go and sign up.
Strawless For The Summer For The Animals

Handling The Plastic Straw Problem And Helping The Animals

One thing that you probably don't think too much about is drinking straws, and you are therefore unlikely to be aware of their impact on the environment. Who would have thought that 100,000 marine animals are killed by debris like plastic straws every year? And likewise, who imagine the number of species that are impacted in such a large way by this kind of pollution? Living in such a beautiful place with such a wide variety of animals, and then hearing about this kind of carelessness is a little distressing, but knowing that there are people out there who are working hard to combat it, and to protect the wildlife gives you a lot of hope.

Frenchy's Restaurant has made the switch from plastic straws, and Solid Waste officials are encouraging others to follow suit.

Beautiful Wildlife Is Something It Is Surprisingly Easy To Help

When you travel around the area, and you see the fish, and the turtles, and the dolphins, and all of the other species that make up the ecology of Clearwater and the surrounding area really are a beautiful resource, and for something as easily avoidable as plastic pollution to be addressed and handled really would be a great thing, not just for the animals themselves, but also for the people who live here and visit and come partly to see and experience these kind of things.

It's great to know about these kind of initiatives that you can easily contribute to as well. Thinking about the animals and then thinking about the plastic straws you use, it is an easy choice to make about what you should do with your own litter and waste products.
Local Artist Dustin Miller of Abstract Metal Design

Great Abstract Art For Display Inside Or Outside

Local artist Dustin Miller is always busy creating new pieces of art, and if you travel around the local area and further afield you may have seen some of his pieces. Taking his inspiration from the elements and from shapes that are in nature, and using highly durable materials, he creates vibrant sculptures that really communicate with the space they are in, and to those who view them.

Dustin is always exploring new techniques to achieve wonderful effects that are very evocative and instill his pieces with an even greater sense of motion, something already present in the very fluid way that the metal occupies the space.

Dustin works with smaller pieces, but there is something transformative about his art when you add in a larger scale, and they are able to really take command of the space in which they are displayed. Dustin was recently featured in the Tampa Bay Magazine, took part in the Bay 2 Beach Music & Arts Festival, and has installations at both the Enchanted Waters Modern Home Project n Long Boat Key, and a commissioned piece on permanent display at the Nalanada Estates, near Bradenton in Florida.

You can check out more of his work at Abstract Metal Design

Clearwater Launches Quiet Zone!

Clearwater is finally free from the frequent intrusion of train horns, which has been a long time coming, and is no small thing. For anyone in downtown Clearwater there were often several times in the day when you would have to hit the pause button on any phone calls you were trying to have because the train would come through and would announce to everyone that there was indeed a train passing through. You couldn't hear anything while it was going on, and depending on the length of the train, it could be a little unpredictable about how long the experience would go on.

It strangely got installed without much fanfare, which was a bit of a missed opportunity for whoever managed to finally get the decision pushed through. There had been enough coverage on how noisy it was, but no one has been out to ask how it feels to have the peace and quiet in place.

Train Now Moves Quietly Through Downtown!

I hadn't even noticed myself that it had happened, but when it was pointed out it was obvious. You can get so used to working around an issue, and so make it a part of your routine, that it becomes almost invisible – even if it is very audible.

Given that the barriers and lights were pretty obvious, it did make you wonder who exactly the train horns were catering for. To witness the normal routine when a train came through, and the impossibility of crossing in front of it, you would have to work really hard to not know that there was a train coming. When the train would sound off it wouldn't just be once, or if it was one noise it was continuous until the train passed.

But no wall you get is the Florida sunshine and the occasional car noise. It's great!
