Five-time GRAMMY® Award winner Robert Cray returns to the Capitol Theatre stage for the first time since 2015! With five GRAMMY® Awards, 15 GRAMMY® nominations, millions of record sales worldwide and thousands of sold-out performances, blues rock icon Robert Cray is considered one of the greatest guitarists of his generation.
In their April 2011 issue, Rolling Stone magazine credits Robert with reinventing the blues with his “distinct razor sharp guitar playing.” They go on to say that his 1986 breakthrough album Strong Persuader “introduced a new generation of mainstream rock fans to the language and form of the blues.”
Since the release of Strong Persuader, Robert has gone on to record 20 studio releases, 15 of which have been on the Billboard charts. In addition to his GRAMMY®, Cray also has a suitcase full of W.C. Handy Blues Awards, In 2011, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57, he is one of the youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor. He has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughn, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. And while Robert can look back over an astonishing three-decade long career, punctuated by his trademark sound and distinct playing style, he is far too busy moving forward as the amazing journey continues. With his 17th studio album, In My Soul, Robert reasserts his position as one of his generation’s great musical storytellers.
