Multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member John Prine returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall for his seventh appearance. 2018 saw the release of his album, The Tree of Forgiveness, his latest album of original material in over 13 years. Nearly 50 years into a remarkable career, the 72-year-old singer is experiencing a late-career renaissance.
"My audience has almost doubled in the last ten years," says Prine.
He is known as a songwriter’s songwriter, who can balance humor and heartbreak, turn of phrase and tongue in cheek. Classics such as “Angel from Montgomery”, “Sam Stone”, “Paradise” and “Hello in There” speak to the everyday experience of ordinary people with a simple honesty, and an extraordinary ability to get right through to the heart of the listener.
